In 2022, I was encouraged by my then supervisor to start writing about my native plant adventures. My first article "Ladies'-tresses" ended up on the front page of the 2023 Winter Newsletter.

My journey led me across the state, into pockets of urban cities and natural areas, to Ohio and back to Iowa. I'm deeply inspired by the work of Iowa authors Cornelia Mutel and Amie Adams, as well as the art mysteries of Blue Balliett. 

Lately my writing has led me to try and influence legislation in Iowa, particularly by joining with Nathan Brockman at Reiman Gardens to make the Regal Fritillary Iowa's State Insect. You can read more, and sign the petition at this link.
